In July and August of last year, my mom and I traveled through Myanmar (or Burma) for just over two weeks.  This was my second time in the country, the first in 2011.  From the first time I visited to now, the country has undergone (and is still undergoing) massive change in terms of government, construction, foreign investment, and openness to the outside.  (Even Obama has been there since I last visited, signifying a big change in international relations with the country).

What remained the same (in a great way) from the last time I visited were the warmth and openness of the people, the overwhelming, colorful, contrast-filled whirlwind of the cities, and the tranquility of the countryside’s dusty plains and terraced rice fields.  I tried to capture some snippets of those scenes, and the feeling of traveling through the country in this short video.  Watch, to join a short trip to Myanmar:
