I can hardly believe it, but tomorrow I’m leaving for Italy once again.  I found out this fall that I could go on another research trip for my thesis, and I’ve been planning this slightly last-minute excursion to Sardinia over the last few weeks.  I’ll be staying over in Milan for one day, to ring in the new year, before I head to the island to try to gather more information and observations about Sardinian culture, history, and traditions.  I have no idea what to expect when I arrive…this is the low tourist season, and also right in the middle of the holidays, both New Year’s and Christmas, which generally lasts until the Epiphany on the 6th.  For all I know now, I might arrive and find almost everything closed.  And the weather will certainly be chillier than when I visited in the summer.  But this time I’m not traveling alone–my mom and my Aunt Pat will be tagging along to share the Italian experience.  Amusement will certainly ensue.

Internet availability is always questionable when I’m traveling, but hopefully I’ll get a chance to update frequently on the trip, so start checking the site over the next few days.  We’re off to the airport in several hours, hopefully early enough to face whatever the TSA has in store for us, and then off to chic Milano.  A presto, and happy holidays to all!
