On Sunday I returned to the floating restaurant, but not cycling this time, instead on a PiA girls’ motorbike excursion.  We ordered our food at the main restaurant and then snacked on some appetizers (sun-dried beef and coconut water) while waiting for it to be prepared.  Once ready, our lunch was loaded onto a small thatched-roof boat, where we lounged on pillows and ate while a driver propelled us up and down the Nam Ngum River.  And it was quite a feast: shrimp fried rice, omelette, sticky rice, morning glory, wild boar curry, and fried curry fish.  Plus a pineapple fruit shake, of course.  Once we were all too full to eat anymore, we just laid back on the pillows, lowered the curtains to block the sun, and enjoyed the ride.  Between the trip and the wait and lunch itself, the meal took up most of the day, which seemed like a fine way to spend a lazy Sunday, before my first full week of work.
