Making Silk

Today was the last day of the Handicraft Fair and I returned to make some final purchases.

the makings of silk

Near the entrance there were artisans doing demonstrations of their crafts, including a sculptor, weavers, and some artists.  I spent awhile watching a lady spinning silk.  She had all of the steps of the process on display: the eggs, the worms, the cocoons, boiling the cocoons, and unwinding the silk threads.  Some of the dead cocoons were fried in a bowl for a mid-work snack.
